02/15/09Pros:
Reliable, have never lost connection.
Cons:
Echo, routing to voicemail not consistent, makes you dial your area code for local calls, expensive for bad quality
Other Thoughts:
I have used verizon for 8 months and have tried 4 times working with their customer service to eliminate an echo that is heard by an incomming caller but it is still there. I have FiOS (Fiber Optic) so connection speed is certainly not an issue. I have also had unexplaied calls going to voicemail instead of to our phone or our voicemail (and yes I have the number of rings maxed out and our home answering machine set at 4). In addition, Verizon makes you dial your own area code to make local calls. I have not asked but am wondering if they will allow you to change the calling codes within the VOIP converter to eliminate this issue. I went with the service from Verizon thinking a large company would provide decent service but at this point I am going to use this site to identify a better provider.
